Helping the butterflies fly FREE

With a butterfly image , die cut or stamped image you can
give it a bit of life and even allow it to be flattened for to
fit in envelope .
LETS BEGIN
with your butterfly , tape and piece of recycled
plastic ( any this one i have is the bubble wrap of
a cricut cartridge as it is sturdy enough )

Cut a flat strip out of the bubble wrap not wider than your butterfly image
(all sizes will vary )

now you have your flat piece

I cut this in half so as it is in two pieces and then folded them in half
Like this

Put tape on one of the folded sides

Attach them to the back of the wings a little away from the body

One on either side like so

side view like this

Now put piece of tape across the plastic onto the center of the body
and over the other plastic

Tape that to your card front

See it flat for putting in envelope

but let it out of envelope and the plastic will make the wings spring up
(my card base is not really stuck together as i have something else in
mind for this butterfly BUT tape your card mats in place better )

Gives 3D to your card with out having to tell people to bend the wings up
when they take the card out of envelope

if you cut into strips and give it a gentle curve, then attach one end to the back of the butterfly and another between the layers of your matting and layering at the top, you can also make your butterflies fly!
keep up the good work

What a wondeful idea Susan!!! You are SO smart!! I love how it would make the butterfly wings pop back up when the card is opened. TFS

wow Susan what a brilliant idea I use a lot of butterflies and always tell people to fluff out the wings to display. Not any more thanks for the inspiration.

Susan - I have done something similar for a 3-D effect, but your technique will work better! Wish I'd thought of that - LOL!
