Poplocks (PART 1 of my take on them)

Today I am here to show you these great
robot things from PaperPoseables
Josh released these Poplocks Super Combiners
That you can interchange and make great things.
With the poplocks that are used to connect
them together there is no need to glue
easy put together and easy pulled apart.
Poseable too.
I put into inkscape and tweaked it to turn
into something that would cut on my Zing
(though it was a little bit of work it was well
worth the effort)
Here is my test one

 THEN
Because they are so easy put together and taken apart
I took apart and added some chalk inkpad to the edges of each piece
an eye and rhinestones to give him some life

Tweeked in inkscape and cut on the Zing

I am off to explore some more.

ZINGING the 3D Robots

This week (week 15) was spent playing
with the pen adapter , scoring (embossing) and
then cut . While surfing the net I came
across this cute robot at paper poseables
And I knew straight away  that I wanted to make it !
The cool thing is, is that it is jointed at 6 points
and you can pose it any way you like.
Now even though it was not as easy as getting the pattern
putting in MTC  and cutting on the Zing.
I did have to take it into
inkscape and tweak it to work with MTC .
BUT IT WAS ALL WORTH IT
Here is my take on Josh's robot
While in inkscape I decided that I did not want to
make it print and cut file for MTC. That I wanted to
use the pen adapter and after use copics to colour
just the parts i wanted in my own colours.
The time spent setting it all up in inkscape was
well worth the effort  coming up with three files
a draw file, score file and then cut file made
my life soo much easier when it came to putting
the model together .
I cut it on dotty scrapbook card stock and it gave
another effect to the colouring
I was happy with how it turned out .
That I did not stop at just cutting one  as the one above
was cut at original size of Josh's pattern
I then wanted to make it bigger using the same tweaked
version I made a BIGGER one  and cut it in white
lightweight card stock.
The joints give the robot real personality.
I can see that the idea of doing the joints this way
will later end up going in a lot of my own patterns.
TIP remember to change the view when you change
to the cut tool  (and not have the emossing view still on)
One thing I want to say this week is that don't be scared
to tweak patterns to cut on your Zing as it is well worth
the time spent tweaking it will open up a whole new
world for your Zinging
I have come to the conclusion that i may rarely do
any hand scoring on my work again as the zing on
full force and 3x, does a fantastic job of it .

Here are the Tall and short Robots

P.S. Paper Poseables have lots of other great
things that i plan on making too

The ZING is here to stay!!
I am off to explore some more.

Zinging "The Elephant song" (adventure continues)

I have to tell you I do now have the Elephant song
tune in my head UGGG
Week 14 of my Zing adventure
This week was a strange one for me as I got a
little distracted . But then when I did get back
to making thing I thought I would continue with
the print and cut . I have never been a real fan of
printed cards. Might have been for this following
reason though .
these fold and tuck below pictured  were both printed
on the same printer.
Right side was printed with printer default
(plan paper and regular print)
BUT
Left is telling the printer it is High quality paper
(in this case HP premium white)
and telling it to print BEST.
BIG DIFFERENCE
printed with printer default
 (plan paper and regular print)
telling the printer it is High quality paper
(in this case HP premium white)
and telling it to print BEST.

What I did was  print and cut an elephant
(Alota digital stamp) using the zing.
only thing this time I added an extra shadow around
the elephant when printing. But cut as normal.
This way  I ended up with the elephant which i
then coloured in copic markers.
The reason I put the extra shadow around the
elephant while printing is so I could then used
the negative  on another card as a frame
Then i thought oh i want to try printing
on the grey and do the same get a frame for a
second card
Also used the cut part and shrunk to cut a plain
black silhouette
This is the frame I had left over . Which I found
a free elephant photo on the net to put inside.
using make the cut to make my boarder of
elephants
This one was my attempt of printing on patterned paper.
Which was ok but that it was also glittered paper
and when i was cutting out it all smudged on the back end
of the elephant. But I did use what i could save.

The bear in the BIG BLUE HAT

There is one advantage to having digital stamps
that is you can make it any size you want.
I took one of the new tess bear stamps from Alota
and made her huge so I could clip the head of it
out for the front of a card and coloured
using copic markers

Tha adventure continues

Week 13 adventure was spent making some
cards using digital stamps, copics and the ZING.
Having seen this style of card on the  internet recently.
I liked it soo much that i knew i wanted to make a base card
pattern of it  (little different to the ones i seen on the net as they
had lots of scollops on the edges)
After making the base of the card pattern. with 13 panels needed
to be filled I found it hard to think of what to put on them.
Then i remembered that there would be enough of the Tess bears
from alota to go on it somehow and here is what i came up with
coloured by hand using copic markers
  Card One
(made 2 of this one)

Card TWO (made 1 of this one)
this one looks the same but the bears are
 all different colours

NEXT
Then I wanted to start learning a bit more about
make the cut. So I spent nearly a week
watching youtubes and trying what they were
doing.
Here is a card I made. Colouring it all
using svg into mtc and putting all pieces on
"each there own " and colouring each piece the
colour that suited before printing and cutting.
HOWEVER i did shade with copics after the
card was made up .
